The Spinet was generously donated by a former choir member, who built it himself from an Australian-made kit. It is therefore a modern instrument, easy to use and has a rich and powerful sound notwithstanding its compact size. It is an excellent continuo instrument and was much used in string ensembles and chamber music of the 17th and 18th centuries.
