Would you like to organize a concert at St. Paul’s?
St. Paul’s has an incredibly rich musical life and hosts literally hundreds of concerts all year round, being one of the most sought-after venues for classical music in the city of Rome.
Basic Characteristics:
- The church is located in Via Nazionale, within walking distance from the main train station “Termini” and from the metro station “Repubblica”. For a map, click here.
- It can take up to 300 people in the audience and up to 80 performers (orchestras & choirs)
- Excellent acoustics – amplification is normally not required
Available Instruments:
- 3 manual-40 stop pipe organ, an eclectic “Mascioni” instrument built in 1963. The organ is well maintained and the position of the console allows perfect eye contact with the conductor standing at the front of the nave.
- Kawai r-0 grand piano.
Other Equipment:
- A podium and a music stand for the conductor
- Up to 80 Chairs for the musicians
- Microphone for presentations
- Music stands for the musicians are NOT available, nor is amplification other than previously specified.
Other Spaces
Under the church there is a large space (the crypt) where musicians (up to 150 people) can change and store their clothes, instruments and other items. Please note that it is not lockable. Restrooms are also in the crypt.
Upon request, but not always available, there is a Parish room (max 50 px) with a Bechstein piano, where a choir may warm up or a small instrumental ensemble can rehearse.
We are open to all kinds of classical music, with few limitations to the repertoire – if in doubt, please ask.
Time frame for concerts including rehearsals is generally between 15.30 and 18.30 Monday through Saturday with the concerts taking place at 17.00. On Sundays, the church runs its own concert series (Luminaria) and those who wish to participate must contact the director of music with their proposal. We also welcome groups who wish to participate in our Sunday morning Eucharist (at 10.30). Again, refer to the music director for all information.
All bookings should be done via email through the office and approved by the director of music. A contribute to the expenses, in the form of offering to the church’s programs and ministry, will be requested. Our guests will be assisted by our custodian, who will prepare the church and reorder the space after use.
Publicity material is appreciated: small flyers can be placed inside the church, but due to the high rate of concerts, big posters can only be shown outside on the day of the concert (1 single poster 70×100 is the best option). We will be happy to publicize the concert on our web page if you send the text in Word format with a high-resolution digital picture to Parish office.
It is possible to collect donations at the end of the concert and/or sell tickets. However, unless the concert is part of our own series, the tour operator and/or the musicians themselves are responsible for the SIAE performance permits and for any bureaucratic aspects concerning ticket selling.
We do hope you will enjoy your stay in Rome and we aim to add a special moment of beauty and satisfaction should you choose to perform “Within our Walls”…
