Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday, three days before Easter, is when we celebrate the Institution of the Eucharist (the Last Supper) and the washing of feet as a sign of humility. The word ‘Maundy’ comes from the Latin ‘mandatum novum’, (new commandment) from John 13:34.
At the end of the service the altar is stripped and all decorative furnishings are removed from the church. The church will remain open for prayer until 10pm.
