Together – Gathering of the People of God

On September 29th-October 1st, young people aged between 18 and 30 will come to Rome from countries across Europe to participate in a weekend of prayer, workshops, and fellowship. They will also be participating in an ecumenical prayer vigil in St. Peter’s Square on September 30th.

Fr. Austin and Madeline will be giving a workshop for participants about refugees in Rome and the work of the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center (JNRC). If you are interested in attending the presentation, meet in the church on September 30th from 9am-11am!

Additionally, St. Paul’s has extra tickets to the prayer vigil in St. Peter’s Square tomorrow. If you would like a ticket, contact Madeline here.

Anniversary of Latin American Community and Prayers for Healing

Would you like to receive prayer for yourself or for others?  This Sunday after the service, our prayer teams will be glad to pray with you.

How does it work?

After the dismissal and during the postlude, come forward to one of the teams standing in front of the altar.  Begin by telling the team your name.  Then tell the team your prayer request.  The team will lay hands on your shoulder and then proceed to pray (if you’d prefer not to have the team lay hands on you please let them know).  Afterward, you are welcome to join us downstairs for our celebration meal for the Anniversary of the Latin American Community, or you can return to the pews if you need a few minutes of silence.  If there are many people requesting prayer, please take a seat in the front pews until the team is finished praying with others.

Praying for and with one another is at the heart of what we do as a church.  We look forward to praying with you on Sunday!

“A Case for Love” Film Screening on October 4th

Join us on October 4th at 7pm for the European premiere of “A Case for Love”, a film inspired by the teachings of Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. The FREE screening will be held in the church.

“”A Case for Love’” is inspired by the teachings and writings of Bishop Michael Curry, most well-known for his passionate sermon about “The Power of Love” at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This documentary examines the question of whether or not love, specifically, unselfish love, is the solution to the extreme societal and political divide facing the U.S.

In the documentary, the film team travels across the US, interviewing everyday people from various walks of life and ethnicities striving to live their lives selflessly. In addition to these subjects well know figures including Pete Buttigieg, Al Roker, Sam Waterston and Jon Meacham weigh in on the subject. In the end, Bishop Michael Curry places what we’ve seen into context.

What’s the verdict on ‘A Case for Love’? Come watch and decide for yourself.”

Live & Give

What is it about St. Paul’s that feeds and nourishes you?

Is it our beautiful building, or the wonderful choir and organ music that accompanies the Sunday Eucharist? Is it the joy of sharing in prayer and quiet contemplation with people from all over the world, or how we embrace cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity? Is it the warmth of our invitations to shared meals, the rich nightly concert programs, or our daily offerings of safety and resources for refugees and migrants?

Whatever your response, we invite you to share with us in keeping alive those things you value at St. Paul’s.

We want to make sure you have the opportunity to participate no matter how large or small your gift is. There is still time to fill out your giving estimate! Cards are in the church and can be filled in and placed in the offering plate, or you can use the online form!
